Union Minister of State for Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said today there is a need to commercialise camel milk which has numerous health benefits.
Camel population is declining fast in the country, the minister said expressing concern.
Camel milk has numerous health benefits, so there is need to commercialise it in a major way, Singh said at an event at National Research Centre on Camel (NRCC) here.
He said camel milk and its products and milk powder are in huge demand in the global market and better marketing can double the income of camel rearers.
Director, NRCC, N V Patil said research on camel milk had proven its benefits and there was a need to market the milk and its products through state government support.
