Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI(M) today said the election results of four states should serve as a wakeup call for all political parties, which should shun conventional political approach.

"Need of the hour is to shun the conventional political approach about the issues confronting people. The election results of four states including Delhi, MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh reflects not only an anti-Congress mood but a resonant message for change," CPI(M) state secretary M Y tarigami said at a public rally at Munad-Guffan in south Kashmir.

He said misgovernance, rampant corruption, inflation, sky rocketing prices and rising unemployment had created a choking atmosphere for people, which compelled them to look for alternatives.

"However, we believe while giving vent to their anger and striving for alternatives people should not allow communal political agenda to succeed," he said.

Tarigami said merely relying on electoral manipulations or maneuvering is no solution or a substitute to address the problems faced by the people.

"In order to restore a dignified life, the people need to form a broader mass movement that can empower them and bring a substantial relief thereby reducing their sufferings.

"The large-scale corruption at every level is a result of a nexus between politicians, bureaucrats and criminals," he added.

He said for a meaningful and result oriented struggle against this menace and making the administration transparent and accountable, a sustainable mass movement is urgently needed.
