Second largest low-cost carrier SpiceJet Ltd today appointed R Neelakantan as its chief financial officer, marking his second coming to the Chennai-based airline, and also appointed four senior vice presidents.
Neelakantan, who had served as CFO from November 2010 to February 2013, is returning to the role after serving as the internal audit head at the parent Sun Group.
Neelakantan's entry will strengthen our senior leadership team, which had earlier been boosted by the hiring of new chief commercial officer Kaneswaran Avili who will be joining SpiceJet from April 1, chief operating officer Sanjiv Kapoor said.

Neelakantan's return to SpiceJet is part of a well-thought out succession plan as outgoing CFO Sam Isaac had previously expressed his desire to move on to pursue other opportunities, he added.
Still the airline does not have CEO after the abrupt departure of Neil Mills last year.
The airline also appointed Shilpa Bhatia as senior VP for sales and distribution, replacing V Raja; and Sudhakar Kondisetty as senior VP of information technology, replacing Virendar Pal and Fares Azeem Kilpady, who will be joining next month as VP and head of revenue management, and Anurag Jain as senior VP network planning and strategy development.
