Neerazhi Mandapam of Nataraja Swamy temple being renovated

: The ancient "Neerazhi Mandapam" (Hall), dedicated to Lord Nataraja Swamy of the famous Sri Natarajaswamy temple here is being cleaned and renovated to enable presiding deities, including Sri Chandrasekharaswamy, Sivagamasundari and Sri Nataraja, along with Astharajar be taken there during "Adi perukku"on August 3.

The Mandapam trustees are also offering support to the deities' visit to the hall after a 30 year gap, officials said.

The ancient Neerazhi Mandapam (Theerthavari/Holy water bathing ceremony hall), was located on the river Kollidam bank at Vallampadukai, they said.

A trust had been created for the festival, for which 11 acres had been donated, apart from the Mandapam.
 

The visit to the Mandapam did not take place in the last 30 years due to various hurdles, including some disputes, officials said.
