Filmmaker Karan Johar says he is touched by the story of "Neerja" and feels it is the best performance by Sonam Kapoor in her career so far.

"The film 'Neerja' is Sonam's career's best performance, she is outstanding. Shabana is a legend and there is no actress like her. It is an empowering story. I would want every mother and daughter to watch this film," Karan told reporters here at the screening of "Neerja".

"Neerja" is based on a real incident during the hijacking of the Pan Am Flight 73 at Karachi airport in 1986, where Neerja Bhanot, a flight attendant, gave up her life in order to save 369 passengers.

"It is a fantastic film. Everyone cried in the film... It is a brave story of a brave girl. I have seen lot of biopics, but very few stories touch your heart and 'Neerja' is one such story," Karan said.

Karan's next directorial venture is "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil". As of now, he is looking forward to the release of his upcoming home production "Kapoor and Sons".
