NEHU Assistant Registrar killed in accident

The Assistant Registrar of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) was killed and two of her friends were injured when their vehicle collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction near the Military Hospital here today.

Jaya Bhattacharjee (47) died on the spot and two others were seriously injured in the accident that occurred at about 7 AM when they were returning from a sightseeing trip in upper Shillong, SP (City) Vivek Syiem said.

The injured were identified as Dr Subrata Choudhry, a lecturer at the Kiang Nangbah Government College, Jowai and Dr Shyamnanda Bhattacharjee, an official of the North Eastern Council (NEC).
 

NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof S K Srivastava condoled the death of Bhattacharjee.
