: A woman reportedly took away the newborn baby of her neighbour, who left it under her care while she went for work in a jewel shop and a search was on to trace her, police said.
They said the woman had left the child with her neighbour, who had moved into M M C Colony at Avaniyapuram recently, and had left for work yesterday.
When she returned home,,she found the neighbour's house lock and no trace of both her and the baby.After searching in vain in nearby areas, she lodged a complaint.
Police said the neighbour had won the confidence of the woman by helping her during her pregnancy. She gave birth to the child on September 21
They suspect she could have taken away the child as she did not have one of her own.
