Singer Nelly Furtado has revealed that she secretly split with her husband Demacio Castellon last year in summer.
The 38-year-old songstress says that she wrote and sang songs to seek relief from heartbreak, reported Billboard.
"I was going through a breakup and I would sing to myself while I drove on these long drives, and I thought to myself, 'I'm so lucky that I can write songs because I can soothe myself with them'," Furtado said on the ITV show, "Loose Women".

The "I'm Like a Bird" singer married Castellon in 2008 at a private ceremony and has a daughter Nevis, 13 with him.
Furtado had collaborated with him in the past on her 2006 album, 'Loose', and her platinum Spanish album, 'Mi Plan'.
