The Nepal government has allowed sewa (service) at a gurudwara here on the occasion of the birthday of the first Sikh guru Nanak Dev on November 17.

It has also invited pilgrims from across the world to celebrate the Guru's birthday at the Nanak Math gurudwara.

The head priest of the Akal Takht (the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs), Gurbachan Singh, will preside over the celebrations.

"It is a privilege for all the Sikhs that the Nepalese government has allowed sewa at the historic gurudwara visited by Guru Nanak," he said.

The 2-day Akhand Path (non-stop recital of Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book, from beginning to end) would start on November 15, he said.
