Nepal government will soon convert the government-controlled electronic media into a public broadcasting service by merging Nepal Television and Radio Nepal.
A ministerial decision to this effect has already been made and necessary work is being done in this regard.
"Necessary preparations are being made in developing human resources, management and technology development for the purpose," said chairman of the Nepal Television during a programme organised to mark the 30th anniversary of the television.

The government is also working towards introducing digital technology in the electronic media, he said.
Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Communication Sunil Bahadur Malla underlined the need to upgrading the state-run communication entity as per the requirements of time and situation.
Minister for Information and Communication Minendra Rijal was the chief guest at the anniversary programme.
