Nepal PM Oli expands Cabinet

Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today expanded his Cabinet by inducting a new minister from a pro-Hindu party.

Jayanta Chand of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) took oath as a minister and was given the portfolio of Ministry of Commerce, according to Pramod Dahal, press adviser to PM Oli.

Chand is the son of RPP chairman Lokendra Bahadur Chand.

With this the strength of the Cabinet has reached 41, including the Prime Minister, six Deputy PMs, 22 ministers, 10 state ministers and two assistant ministers.

The government has also appointed Hari Phuyal as Attorney General, according to Cabinet sources. The post was vacant after Hari Krishna Karki resigned from the post recently.
 

Earlier, Karki was appointed as Justice. Attorney General serves as the legal advisor to government.
