Acting on a request by East Bengal club, Asian Football Confederation has decided to observe a minute's silence ahead of today's and tomorrow's AFC Cup matches in memory of those who lost their lives in the devastating earthquake in Nepal.

"AFC has agreed to East Bengal's proposal and it has been decided by the Asian football body that the one-minute silence will be observed in all the matches of AFC Cup to be played on 28th April and 29th April," East Bengal said in a release today.

It added: "A minute's silence will be held before AFC Cup match between Kingfisher East Bengal and Johor Darul Taz'im for the victims of Nepal Earthquake."

The death toll in the devastating earthquake that has rocked Nepal climbed to over 4,350 today with more than 8,000 injured.

Crisis loomed over quake-hit Nepal with an acute shortage of food, water, electricity and medicines as fear of aftershocks kept tens of thousands of people out in the open.
