Nepali filmmaker gets 5 yrs RI for sexually assaulting minor

A Nepali film director, based here, was today sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment by a special court for sexually assaulting a minor girl about three years back.

Bharat Chhetri alias Badal (34) was convicted under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 by special judge Anupam Mukherjee.

The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on Chhetri, the director of Nepali film 'Bhagya Vidata', failing which he would have to serve an additional jail term of six months.

The incident took place in 2014.
