The five accused arrested in the Netai firing in West Midnapore district were today sent to five-day jail custody by a local court.
SDJM M K Gupta of Jhargram court dismissed the Criminal Investigation Department's (CID's) plea to take the five accused into their custody and sent them to jail custody for five days.
On Tuesday CID had arrested the five accused from Hyderabad in the Netai incident when nine persons, including four women, were killed in firing allegedly by CPI(M) cadres in January 2011.
The five arrested included Rathin Dandapat, the then local CPI(M) leader from whose house allegedly the firing on the villagers took place, Dalim Pande, Tapan De, Joydeb Giri and Md Khaliludin.
