Streaming giant Netflix has given series order to martial arts drama "Wu Assassins".

The ten-episode series will feature Iko Uwais in the lead, the company said in a statement.

The 35-year-old actor, who is best known for action films "Merantau", "The Raid" and "The Raid 2", will also serve as a producer, lead martial arts choreographer and stunt coordinator on the project.

The story, set in San Francisco's Chinatown, follows Kai Jin (Uwais), an aspiring chef who becomes the latest and last Wu Assassin, chosen to round up the powers of an ancient triad and restore balance once again.

The first two episode of the new series will be directed by Stephen Fung and the streaming giant will be announcing additional director for the rest soon.

Apart from Uwais, the series will also feature "Altered Carbon" star Byron Mann as Uncle Six.

John Wirth has penned the series and he will also executive produce the project.

Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev of Nomadic Pictures Entertainment will also executive produce along with Tony Krantz of Flame Ventures.
