A 15 day-old girl was found abandoned in a lonely place in Jagannathpur sub-division in West Singhbhum district today, police said.
The infant was spotted near a forest by an employee of Forest department and informed the police, who rushed to the spot and recovered the new born baby, Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Jagannathpur, Bertinus Kullu said.
The girl was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where she was admitted, he said adding that the girl was responding well to treatment well.
