: A newborn male baby in 'Phacomalia' stage (without both hands) was handed over to the Cradle Baby Reception Center at Government Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital today, official sources said.
They said R Malliga (26) wife of Raman of Noolahalli village 18 km from here, mother of a four-year-old girl, delivered the child at a Primary Health Centre there on Jan 1.
As the baby was just 1.7 kg and born without both hands it was referred to Government Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital. It was in the ICU for the past 13 days, they said, adding the parents decided to hand over the baby due to the child's condition and their poverty.
Till date the Center has received 1398 babies, including 73 males since its inception on April 13, 2002, the sources added.
