Addressing a conference on mobility and transport for elderly and disabled, Dikshit said directions have been issued to ensure "disabled and elderly friendly features" in all the upcoming government buildings.

"Our government is aspiring to make Delhi a caring city for one and all, especially for the elderly and disabled," she said.

The conference was organised by NGO 'Svayam' in association with Delhi government, Urban Development Ministry, Tourism Ministry and Transportation Research Board of the US.

The Chief Minister said the government has been taking steps to make heritage places like Qutub Minar, Red Fort and bus shelters and public conveniences accessible to elderly and disabled people.

Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami said his department was making all-out efforts to ensure hassle free travel of elderly and disabled people.

"The transport department has made elaborate arrangements to convert all bus queue shelters as disabled friendly. The government is also concentrating on installation of signages for the elderly and disabled persons," he said.
