Amidst criticism by other political parties over giving tickets to cinestars, sportstar and singers, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today said several new faces have been inducted to give the candidate list a truly representative look.

"Yesterday, we announced our candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections for West Bengal, Tripura, Jharkhand and Manipur. Several new faces have been inducted to give our candidate list a truly representative look," Banerjee said in a Facebook post.

"There is the young and popular hero, Deb. The legendary film actors, Sandhya Roy and Moon Moon Sen are there. Then we have the well-reputed singers, Indranil Sen and Soumitra Roy of Bhoomi. We have the football superstar Bhaichung Bhutia who captained India team," Banerjee tweeted.

Referring to other TMC cnadidates, who are not associated with day to day party work such as theatre personality Arpita Ghosh, Professor Sugata Basu, Banerjee said the party needed people's support and cooperation.

Banerjee said this was the first round of candidate list and TMC will soon announce its contestants for more places/states.
