New commercial office of Cochin Port CFS opened

The New Commercial office of Cochin Port Container Freight Station (CFS) at nearby Willingdon Island was declared open by Customs Commissioner K N Raghavan today.

The Cochin Port CFS, the largest in the state, had completed a major expansion newly creating facilities for storage of reefer containers, unaccompanied baggage container of NRIs and on-wheel inspection and clearance for EXIM containers, a press release said.

The CFS also provides exclusive space for containers carrying highly hazardous cargo.

The new commercial office, located adjacent to RoRo Terminal in Willingdon Island, also provides online transaction and facilitates real time documentation including billing for all the activities.
 

The inaugural function was attended by stakeholders representing the EXIM trade, Transport operators, Customs House agents and shipping lines. Paul Antony, Port Chairman, C D Nandakumar, Trustee and Dr C Unnikrishnan Nair, Traffic Manager Cochin Port spoke on the occasion.

The Port has revamped its 10,000 sq.M of covered area and recently added imported smokeless forklifts to its fleet to handle sensitive cargo. CFS has also created new ramp facility for inspection of imported containers which facilitates customs examination of seven containers at a time. The CFS now meets all the trade requirements in one compound.
