New counsel to represent Centre in courts in Tamil Nadu

The Centre has appointed 115 lawyers as their counsel in all the courts in Tamil Nadu.

They would replace the counsel appointed by the previous UPA government.

Additional Solicitor General of India G Rajagopalan today made available the list of central government Standing Counsel and Additional Central Government Standing Counsel to appear before various courts in Tamil Nadu.

While Chennai, which has been classified as urban district, has got the maximum of 14 Standing Counsel, other districts got at least two each.

Already, there are more than 60 senior central government standing counsel and central government standing counsel representing the Centre before the principal bench of the High Court here and its Madurai bench.
 

Besides, there are two Assistant Solicitors General, one each in Chennai and Madurai, to appear in important cases.
