Arunachal Pradesh government today created Kra Daadi district by bifurcating Kurung Kamey district.

It is the 19th district of the state.

The district bordering the Tibet region of China has two assembly constituencies namely Tali and Palin covering seven circle headquarters including Pipsorang, Tali, Palin, Yangte, Chambang, Gangte and Tarak Langdi.

Jamin, a picturesque place situated around 20 km from Palin, would be the headquarters of the new district.

On March 20 in 2013, The state assembly passed the Arunachal Pradesh (Re-Organisation of Districts) (Amendment) Bill, 2013, paving the way for creation of Kra Daadi along with three other new districts in the state.

Chief Minister Nabam Tuki inaugurated the new district accompanied by his cabinet colleagues, Parliamentary Secretaries and MLAs in a function organised here.

"The district was created keeping in view the administrative bottleneck of the people who had to go to Koloriang, the headquarters of Kurung Kumey district travelling a distance of over 182 km," Tuki said in his address to a mammoth gathering.

"Kra Daadi would be developed by preparing a master plan for its development so that administration can run smoothly and effectively," he said.

He said, with the coming up of 330 mw Kurung hydro power project, the economy of the district would be uplifted with the opening of employment opportunities for the local youths.

"The North East Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) last month inked a memorandum of agreement with the state government to execute the project soon," he added.
