New Arunachal Pradesh Governor P B Acharya today exhorted inmates of Jullang district jail to reform themselves into better persons.
"Jail is place for reforms. You should use the time of repentance for inculcating new skills so that once out of the jail, you can earn respectable living," Acharya said during his visit to the jail during the day, which coincided with Martyrs Day.
He gave a patient hearing to the problems and challenges faced by the inmates and directed the jail authority to provide basic necessary items, including games & sports items, a Raj Bhawan communique informed.

"Games and sports activities help in reducing mental tension and also assist the inmates to come out of their mental trauma," he said and directed the jail authority to provide, free legal aids and all other relevant provisions to the inmates to be provided by the government.
Acharya also paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary.
He expressed his concern about the plight of students and job seekers from the state in other parts of the country, particularly those working in metros.
Many people go out of Arunachal for education, job, health reasons and entrepreneur-related works and face problems due to communication gap and other reasons.
He invited the affected individuals and families to meet him at Raj Bhavan, the communique added.
