A new train service connecting Jayanagar in Madhubani to Pataliputra station in Patna is likely to begin very soon, a senior railway official today said.
"The ministry has given an in-principle approval for this new service and it is likely to be operationalised very soon," DRM of Samastipur Division, R K Jain said on the sidelines of inaugration of a day-long photo exhibition of rare archival images of Darbhanga here.
Earlier, addressing a gathering at the venue--Chaurangi Circle, Madhepura MP Rajeev Ranjan said, "We had been requesting for direct train to Patna from Jayanagar for quite some time, and I have been informed that in the next 10 days the service will begin."

The train will travel to Patna via Darbhanga. Jayanagar is a town located on the Indo-Nepal border, about 70 kms from here.
Jain when asked if the train would begin service in next 10 days, only said, "Very soon, sometime this month.
