The BJP's central leaders today held discussions with the party's Kerala leaders amid reported differences among them over names suggested by various factions for the post of new state unit chief.
BJP national secretary in-charge, Kerala, H Raja and party MP Nalin Kumar Kateel met the party's state and district leadership to understand their views on the appointment of new state unit president, party sources here said.
The post of the state party president in the politically significant southern state has been lying vacant since Kummanam Rajasekharan became the governor of Mizoram on May 29 this year.
Raja and Kateel held one to one meetings with the partys state core committee members and district level leaders.
Raja said the national leadership of the party would soon take a decision on the new state president.
Both Raja and Kateel also met senior party leaders, including O Rajagopal MLA, V Muraleedharan MP and other former presidents including Sreedharan Pillai as part of the exercise to appoint the new president, the sources said.

Names of leaders, including K Surendran, M T Ramesh and A N Radhakrishnan have been reportedly suggested for the post by various sections in the state BJP.
Raja, while refusing to speak of differences in the state unit over the names suggested by various sections, said the decision would be taken by party chief Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
