In a big boost for the next month's National Tennis Championship, which will be in its 20th edition, the organizers today doubled the prize money to Rs 18 lakh while the winners will also get main draw wild card for the upcoming Delhi Open.
Ajay Shriram, Chairman and Senior Managing Director of the DCM Shriram Ltd, who in partnership with DLTA organise the championship, said the championship has established well over the years.
"We have decided to double the prize money from Rs 9 to 18 lakhs. We have also decided to increase the kit allowance," Shriram said adding that they will continue to be the 'gold sponsors' of the USD 100,000 Delhi Open.

AITA President Anil Khanna annouced that apart from the winners, the finalist of men's and women's events will get wild cards for the Qualifying events of Delhi Open.
Winner of Boys and Girls (Under-18) will also get Qualifying wild card for the Delhi Open and winners of Under-16 events will get Main Draw wild cards for the Asian Junior championship in April 2015.
Delhi Open is India's first combined International Men - Women Tennis championship. Somdev Devavarman had won the inaugural edition in February this year.
