T R Suresh today took over as the new city police commissioner in place of M ChandraSekhar, who has been transferred to Bengaluru as Inspector General of Police (CID and Economic Offences).
After handing over charge to the incoming officer, Sekhar told reporters that the one-and-a half year stint in Mangaluru was the most memorable tenure he had in his career. Suresh said it was a privilege to serve as police commissioner in the city and that he would follow the footsteps of his predecessor Chandra Sekhar, who had made the police people-friendly.
Suresh, hailing from Shivamogga, had earlier served in various districts in the state including Uttara Kannada, Bagalkot, Vijaypura, Hubballi and Dharwad.
He had also served as DCP Law and Order in Mysuru, DIG of fire services inBengaluru, Additional SP in Belagavi and SP in the Lokayuktain Tumakuru.
