Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar Wednesday said that the new police stations would be created in the state in a phased manner considering the crime statistics of the area.
"There has been a demand to have more police stations. We will study the crime details in each of the area and will decide on having police stations there," Parrikar said responding to a question on the floor of the House today.
A fortnight long assembly session began yesterday.

"Step one would be to create police station within existing police station building. The second step will be to have a required manpower for that," said Parrikar, who is also holding home portfolio in the state cabinet.
The chief minister said the process to identify the lands to set up new police stations has also begun at various places.
"The comprehensive discussion on this issue is on. The police department has given the list of requirements for police stations," he said.
Responding to a question by MGP MLA Dipak Pauskar, Parrikar said he would be holding a joint meeting of police, transport and mining departments to ensure smooth plying of the trucks once iron ore export season starts, post monsoon.
