The show, being produced by superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment, will also take a look at the meteoric rise of television.
"I am a child of the TV era. I have seen television undergo a huge transition for the last 20 years since the beginning of satellite TV in 1984. No one has ever chronicled the history of TV before and in this show we look back at the industry," Samar Khan, production head at Red Chillies TV division, told PTI.
"The show will give a sneak peek into the success of television in India and provide an in-depth analysis about the current scenario in the television space," he added.
The show, to be aired on Discovery channel, will bring together stars including Shah Rukh, Kamal Hassan, Anupam Kher, Ekta Kapoor, Smriti Irani and Sakshi Tanwar, who will recount their small screen experience.
"TV has seen the birth of actors like Smriti Irani, Sakshi Tanwar, Ronit Roy. They owe their career to TV. We included Ekta Kapoor because it is unthinkable to do something about TV and not include her as she has had a very important role in shaping modern TV," said Samar, who has also directed films like "Shaurya" and "Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye".
"Shah Rukh began his career with TV. He was a natural choice for us. He is someone who has made a successful transition from TV to films. He is a superstar but he is not shy to go back to TV again.
"We included Kamal Haasan to give the regional point of view to the show and also Zee TV's Subhash Goel, who is the pioneer of satellite TV in India," he added.
