West Bengal Urban Development and Municipal Affairs minister Firhad Hakim today said a new township named 'Gitabitan' will be set up near Tagore's dream abode Viswa Bharati in Bolpur in another two year time.
The township, to be set up between Santiniketan and Bolpur for individuals will be very close to proposed Webel IT Hub by HIDCO with assistance from Sriniketan Santiniketan Development Authority (SSDA) under Birbhum district, he said at the 41st International Kolkata Book Fair ground here.
The township with all modern facilities will enable the people to live or spend days in the land of red earth and baul music, faraway from the congested metro, and live close to Tagore's dream village Sriniketan, he said.

The minister further announced facilitating online application for land for individuals in New Town through ICICI as part of the government's vision to make it a world class city with people's face.
A total of 75 plots, ranging from two to four cottah would be allotted through lottery and another 25 plots primarily for setting up cooperative flats which are larger in size (Five to six cottahs) would be allotted through e- auction.
Hakim assured those not having featured in the lottery draw will be refunded money by the HIDCO.
The minister asked those keeping vacant plots at New Town after purchasing from HIDCO to either utilise the same or give it back to HIDCO so that others may avail the land.
On lines of Rajasthan's Chokhi Dhani, similar zones will come up in both townships to help people connected with ethnic culture and heritage of the country, he said.
Hakim also said a world class convention centre, the best in country, will come up in New Town area by this July.
The convention centre was aimed at drawing the large horde of global business travellers to the city and a cross between the Vigyan Bhaban and India Habitat Centre and to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by the last week of June or early July, Hakim informed.
