Patti Hoffman has taken over the post of Consul General of the United States of America for the Kolkata Consular District, the US Consulate said in a statement today.
Hoffman succeeded Craig Hall and took over charge on August 3.
The Kolkata Consular District includes West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Sikkim, and the seven northeastern states.
"I am honored to be representing our country here in eastern and northeastern India. I look forward to meeting people across the consular district and to working together to advance the U.S.-Indian partnership at all levels," she was quoted in the statement as saying.
Prior to coming to Kolkata, Consul General Hoffman was a student at the National War College at the National Defence University (NDU) in Washington, DC.
Previously, she had served as Chief of Staff to the Director General of the US Foreign Service and Director of Human Resources.
Hoffman has also served in overseas at the US Embassy Mexico City, US Embassy London, US Embassy Quito, and US Consulate General Rio de Janeiro and served in several positions at the US Department of State in Washington, DC.
