Newborn stolen in Punjab; later recovered from nurse's house

A three-day old infant was recovered from the possession of a nurse who had allegedly kidnapped the baby boy today morning from a nursing home at Baba Than Singh chowk here, police said.

The newborn was asleep with his mother at the nursing home who found him missing around 4 in the morning, they said.

She raised alarm and her husband Gurbhej Singh immediately informed the police, they said.

While going through the CCTV footages from inside the nursing home, police found a nurse stealing the kid, who was born on Thursday.

The accused nurse was identified as Asha Masih, they said.
 

The boy was recovered from the nurse's house and she was arrested under relevant sections of the IPC, police said.
