Newly-appointed Australian diplomat calls on TN Minister

Australia Deputy Consul General in Chennai, Michael Costa called on Tamil Nadu Minister K Pandiarajan here Tuesday and discussed various issues including strengthening relations between his country and the state.

During his brief interaction with the minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture at the Secretariat, Costa discussed about signing of a memorandum of understanding between National Gallery of Australia and the Government Museum in the city.

The diplomat briefed Pandiarajan about a film festival in Chennai on the Australian tribal community, an official release said.

There were discussions on preparing Australia's India Economic Strategy 'IES2035' report on strengthening the trade relations between the two countries.

 

Costa recently took over as the Deputy Consul General in Chennai.

Meanwhile, Australian Consul General Susan Grace said on her official twitter account, "I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to Michael Costa, our new Deputy Consul General in Chennai."

"Michael is joined by his family and is looking foward to commencing his new position in India", she added.
