Newly-appointed state school education minister C M Chang of the Naga People's Front-led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland has resigned from his post, officials said today.

Chang, elected from Noksen constituency in the February 23 Assembly election, had submitted his resignation on March 14, state Assembly Speaker Chotisuh Sazo said.

Chang resigned in order to avoid a Lok Sabha by-election, Sazo said, adding that Chang's resignation has been accepted.

He was the lone MP from Nagaland.
