Addressing a joint press conference here, the Mayors of South, North and East Delhi Municipal Corporations said the BJP victory in all the three civic bodies will pave the way for uniform development of the capital.
Mayors Meera Aggarwal (North), Savita Gupta (South) and Annapurna Mishra (East) demanded that the city government should immediately pay the dues to the Corporations so that this money could be utilised for development work.
"If Delhi Government gives us the amount of Rs 2,305 crore it owes to us, then the provision of basic facilities to the public can be achieved easily," Aggarwal said.
The Mayors said that each councillor should be given fund of Rs one crore each under LAD fund. Presently, the LDA fund for councillors is around Rs 50 lakh.
"The government gives bail-out package to private power companies. Why cannot they provide grant to the three Corporations?" said Mishra, who echoed Gupta.
The Mayors said their priority will be to ensure public toilets, parking, sanitation facilities and education and modernising the city's hospitals.
The three Mayors also have decided to submit proposal for constructing public toilets and parking lots on the PWD roads and around Central Government building after consulting the PWD and the Central Government. PTI JDA SJY DV
