A newly-married woman was allegedly abducted by unidentified persons after beating up her husband when the couple was returning home from dinner in Panchvati area of Nashik on May 5, police said today.

The alleged incident occurred near Lamkheda farm when Rokan Pokar (25), originally from Gujarat but currently settled in Nashik, was returning home on a motorcycle along with his wife, said Mhasrul police station incharge Subhashchandra Deshmukh.

He said when the couple passed the farm, around 10 kms away from their house, a car came from behind and blocked their way.

"Two men sitting in the car got down and assaulted Pokar and bundled the woman into their car before fleeing," Deshmukh said.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by Pokar, police have fanned out teams to trace his wife, he added.
