39-year-old Sunita was found hanging from a ceiling fan last night and her husband Rakesh Sharma informed the Police.
The couple got married just 12 days back on April 13 in Himachal Pradesh.
Though Rakesh's family said it was a suicide, the woman's parents alleged that she was killed by her husband and in-laws for dowry.
Based on a complaint filed by Sunita's father Munshi Ram against her husband and in-laws, police have registered a case and an SDM enquiry ordered into the matter.
They alleged in the complaint that Sunita's in-laws were demanding dowry after the marriage and they claimed that they gave Rs 1.5 lakh on Tuesday.
Police said preliminary investigation has established that the couple had an argument when Sharma returned home after consuming liquor. PTI ETB
