The goods train was on its way from Lumding in Nagaon district to Badarpur in Barak Valley when it derailed damaging one and half km of track, N F Railway sources said here.
Many trains including the Cachar Express and the Agartala Special were stranded at Maibang and Lower Haflong stations.
Work on repairing the damaged portion of the track is on but it will take several hours before line clearance, sources said. PTI PPB SB
