Nagaland Football Association (NFA) President P Atuo Mezhur today appealed to the state government to ensure proper sporting infrastructure to improve the quality of sporting discipline in the state.
"Football is one of the favourite sports disciplines of the Naga people, but the sad part is there is no proper infrastructure within the state to promote the game as well as other sporting activities," Atuo said while inaugurating the 21st edition of Classic Cup football tournament here.
The tournament is being organised by Classic Club Kohima with a total of 31 teams vying for the title.

People expect that NFA should produce world class players but with such poor infrastructure it became difficult as there is no proper ground dedicated for the particular discipline of sports, he said.
The NFA President therefore appealed to the state government to provide better infrastructure for the budding sportspersons in the state.
"We hope proper infrastructure will be provided so that different discipline of sports can be organised for identification of the young talents to compete at higher levels of competition," he said.
