A mass-based organisation in Arunachal Pradesh today alleged anomalies in the Census of India 2011 in which a non-existent village in Papum Pare district was registered and demanded its immediate cancellation.

Jajing Tapo and Domi Saram Native Welfare Association, the NGO, claimed that in the Census of India 2011 (Abridged House list) a village named Tanio Pai was listed under Paki Panchayat in Mengio circle whereas in reality there was no such village.

In a representation submitted to the Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner, the association said that Tanio Pai was the name of the land or a small stream which comes under the jurisdiction of Jajing Tapo and Domi Saram.

The enlisted population for Tanio Pai was actually the population of Nargang, Lamte and Tagik which was done without the knowledge of the local people, it added.
