A citizens' grievance cell has been launched by Concern for Calcutta, an NGO, aiming to resolve problems faced by the people with city government agencies, especially senior citizens.

"The cell will help people in solving their problem with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Kolkata Police and other government agencies. The organization will not only forward the complaints to the concerned department but also follow up for its redressal," its president Narayan Jain said in a statement.

It is difficult for the public, particularly senior citizens and women, to approach the government agencies and following it up with the issues, he added. The service will be provided free of cost.

People can contact 033-24198785 for details.

Kolkata Police also run a programme, Pronam, for the senior citizens of the city who account for about a third of the population.
