NGO programme officer killed in Telangana

A programme officer working with an NGO was allegedly murdered on the outskirts of Kosgi mandal of Mahabubnagar district, police said today.

G Ramu (35), working with the city-based NGO, and a native of Warangal district, was found murdered with his throat slit last evening, they said.

A police official, who is investigating the case, said Ramu was allegedly murdered with a knife by the husband of a woman, with whom he is suspected to have an "illicit relationship."

The accused has been taken into custody, the police official said.

Among other things, the NGO is working towards improving policy and practice related to rain-fed agriculture.
