NGO seeks tie-up with bodies to raise awareness on addiction

With an aim to help alcohol and drug addicts, Hyderabad-based Hope Trust is seeking affiliations with like-minded organisations for raising awareness about effective treatment options against these addictions.

"Addiction to alcohol and drugs is a highly prevalent problem and according to the WHO estimates, 10 per cent of any population has a tendency towards these addictions," Founder and Director of Hope Trust, Rahul Luther told reporters here yesterday.

The Trust also organised a seminar on the issue here today aims at building awareness amongst doctors, counsellors and social workers about effective treatment options for alcohol and drug addiction, he said.
 

Luther said the NGO was seeking affiliations with like-minded organisations/individuals to open a facility in this part of the country.

Rajeshwari Luther, Director and Head, family Interventions Division, also spoke on the occasion.

The programme incorporates the WHO-approved 12 Steps and is based on the renowned Minnesota model which addresses physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of the addicts.
