Giving away Social Entrepreneur of the Year India 2012 award, she said people in the country have plenty of talent but what they lack is marketing.
"The kind of work NGOs do is to bring up the inner talent in people. NGOs should come up with innovative ideas so that government can act as a catalyst in development projects," she said.
Dikshit said social entrepreneurship as a concept has grown over the years from just small entities.
"Now we have reached a stage where entrepreneurs who are doing great work in the society, need to be recognised for their efforts, but there are very few avenues for this.
"We need more social entrepreneurs to come forward and help those still in the growing stage and thus help the community at large," she said.
Anshu Gupta of Goonj, an NGO, was awarded the Social Entrepreneur of the Year India 2012, set up by Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, a sister organisation of the World Economic Forum at the function.
