Press Trust of India Bhopal
National Green Tribunal (NGT) has turned down an application moved by the Bhopal disc jockeys (DJs) Association seeking relaxation of the ban on DJs during marriage functions, which has come in force since November 18.

A bench of NGT, comprising judicial member Dalip Singh and expert member DK Agrawal yesterday refused to entertain the application of the Association seeking relaxation on the ban on DJs during marriage processions.

It sought relief on the ground that they will play the music according to the book and keep the noise level to limited decibel.

On May 18, the tribunal had directed that DJs operating on modified vehicles with big speakers would not be allowed in marriage processions as they caused noise and air pollution.

But the Association sought time six months time for the execution of the order to which NGT agreed, petitioner and advocate Vivek Choudhary told PTI today.

He said though the ban on DJs has come into force on November 18 in the city, the Association was not adhering to it.
