NHPC issues advisory over silt flushing of Dulhasti reservoir

National Hydroelectric Power Project today issued advisory asking people to restrict their movement near banks of Chenab river in view of mandatory periodical silt flushing from the reservoir of Dulhasti Power Station in Kishtwar district here.

"The management of Dulhasti Power Station of NHPC has cautioned the general public of Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban districts, particularly the people residing in Benzwar, Cherhar, Bhanderkoot, Hasti, Kandni, Thathri, Premnagar and Pul Doda not to move near Chenab from July 27 to July 28 as the gates of Dulhasti Power Station Dam shall be opened for periodical reservoir flushing," a NHCP spokesman said.

The water level may rise temporarily, and the public residing near the river downstream areas has been to asked to refrain themselves from going near the bank of river Chenab to avoid any mishap, he added.
 

The public has been requested to cooperate for the safety of their own lives, he said.
