State-owned NHPC today said that its board has approved raising Rs 2,250 crore through issuance of corporate bonds on private placement basis.
"The board of directors of NHPC in its meeting held today...Has approved the proposal of raising Rs 2,250 crore through issuance of "V" series corporate bonds on private placement basis which is out of Rs 4,500 crore already approved by the stakeholders in their 40th Annual General Meeting held on September 22, 2016," NHPC said in a filing to BSE.
NHPC currently has an installed capacity of 5,147 MW at standalone and 6,717 MW on consolidated basis with a total of 22 operating power stations. Nineteen hydro power stations besides one wind power project are operated by NHPC while two are operated by NHDC, a subsidiary company with the Government of Madhya Pradesh.

Apart from this, the company has a total of three hydropower projects under construction with total installed capacity of 3130 MW.
During the current financial year, NHPC is expecting to commission 330 MW Kishanganga Project in Jammu and Kashmir. 100 MW each is also likely to be added from wind and solar power projects respectively.
