NHRC issues notice on electrocution of six boys in Raj

Taking suo-motu cognisance of Churu incident in which six boys were electrocuted while 22 others suffered injuries, the National Human Rights Commission today issued notices to Rajasthan Electricity Board and district authorities.

According to an NHRC statement issued today, NHRC has given four weeks time to the DM and SP, Churu and Chairman, Rajasthan State Electricity Board to submit their report.

The incident took place when a bus carrying a marriage party came in contact with a live wire in District Churu, Rajasthan. The victims were on their way to a village in Sardarshahr town when the incident occurred near Lodsar Village, the statement said.
 

Taking suo-motu cognisance of a media report about the incident, the Commission observed that its contents, if true, raises serious issue of violation of human rights of the victims due to negligence of Electricity Department in maintaining electrical wires.
