NHRC rapporteur to tour Kanyakumari district

A special rapporteur of National Human Rights Commission will visit Kanyakumari district on a two-day tour from September 6 to hear grievances from the public and to meet district officials.

K R Shyamsundar, NHRC Special Rapporteur for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and Lakshadweep, would meet the Kanyakumari District Collector among other officials on September 6.

He would visit homes for children, differently-abled and destitutes at Nagercoil on the same day.

On September 7, he would hear grievances of the public at Nagercoil on non registration of cases by police, non receipt of monetary relief and other government welfare measures by SCs, STs and the differently-abled.
 

"I will also hear grievances relating to the demand of illegal gratification by government agencies and not responding to requests under Right to Information Act)," Shyamsundar told PTI.
