National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports that a gym trainer was allegedly shot by two police constables in Greater Noida and sought a report in this regard from SSP, Gautam Buddha Nagar within two weeks.
"The Commission has observed that the content of the media report, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of human rights. Accordingly, it has issued a notice to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh calling for a report within two weeks," an official release issued here said.
On Jul 13, the incident took place when the victim-a gym trainer was returning from a party at his friend's place in greater Noida.

According to media reports, the victim claimed that cops had destroyed his life and goals.
The Police constables said, in a statement, that it was dark and they heard a cry for help from a car and assumed some of the occupants were criminals in the process of committing a crime so they fired one round from a service revolver.
